Nothing will tell you where you are. Each moment is a place you’ve never been.

Mark Strand, from “Black Maps”, Poetry (June 1970)

The Desiderata of Happyness

“Desiderata” (Latin for “desired things”, plural of desideratum) is an inspirational prose poem about attaining happiness in life. Max Ehrmann first copyrighted it in 1927, but it was widely circulated in the 1960s without attribution to him.
